Week 12- Guns, Gates and Conference

This week was active for us. We met alot of people, and we are hoping to start steadily teaching some of them. So far we only have two people who have a date to be baptized, and one of them i put on date for after i may be gone... we'll see how that goes😅. Anyways, everyone else we are teaching is slowly progressing so hopefully i can do some more good while im here!

This week i've got two pieces of fun information and a story. Fun info: Bill Gate live like 20 minutes from me (I already asked, we are not allowed to go over there because to many missionaries have tried to knock on his door already😪😁). The second one is that i'm literally in the birthplace of Costco. I have been to the original costco twice now for food. Pretty interesting stuff.

Here's my fun story for the week. I didn't think this would happen quite this early in my mission, but it has to happen at some point i guess. Someone opened a door with a gun in hand. NOW HOLD YOUR PONIES, its not that bad. I will admit that when i saw the gun i was ready to book it, but here's what happened.

Here's the story. Me and Elder Thomas were door knocking, enjoying the night. Nothing to wild or crazy had happened and we had just successfully talked for a while with a really nice woman. All is fine and dandy. We knocked our next door and after standing there for a while i heard something that sounded like the slide of a gun. *shick shick click* it didn't register to firmly in my mind, but i turned to Elder Thomas and jokingly went "That sounded like a gun". Lol. Next thing i know the door opens and there's A GUN pointed right at us.

Good news all around tho because it just ended up that this person thought we were one of his buddies, and the gun was unloaded. We ended up having a good laugh about it, we talked for a while, invited him to conference, and now hes coming to church after having watched the third session of conference. The Lord works in mysterious ways, that's all i can say😂.

Final thought is from General Conference this weekend. It was an awesome opprotunity for everyone around the world to listen to and hear from some really great speakers, all of whom were church leaders.

It comes from Jorge M. Alvarado and he shared a thought about what it takes to be able to encourage someone to do something. He said that you couldnt encourage anyone to do anything if you yourself are not already doing that thing you are trying to help them with. Try and place yourself in their shoes AND THEN help them. That's what i got from that.

Love y'all, hope you have a great week!

Week 11- There's also a lot of water here

Rain is an interesting factor in what we do here. Its interesting in the it changes absolutely nOtHiNg. Funny story about how i though working in the rain would go versus how it actually is. I figured that we would still go about doing our normal thing, which is door knocking. That would mean that we stay at least semi dry and get an intermittent shower. That makes sense to me. here's the funny part. We went STREET CONTACTING.

We were trying to decide what to do for the night and my companion form Ukraine (Ct. Kochev) looks at me and goes "you need to practice street contacting". sounded good to me so i said: "For sure, sounds like it'd be fun." Him: (looking to my other Ct. Worthington) "Should we go to the beach?" Ct. Worthington: "Sure. ill go on splits so you can show him the ropes" ME: *realizing that they are talking about going that night and looking outside at the Black clouds* "tomorrow Right...?"

It definitely was not tomorrow. Either way i figured it was good practice and surprisingly enough we talked to quite a few people who were wandering around AND i talked to two Russian speakers! Both spoke English so they switched back to English on a whim whenever they felt like it. It was still super fun and we ended up watching some guys do Frisbee Ballet. it was interesting to see and we gave them some pass alongs after they showed us their routine😅.

We also had some service on Saturday where we got together with a bunch of other churches and put on a lunch for the community. it was super cool to see so many people come together and do that. I met some really cool people from all over too. Its wild how many countries are represented in the Seattle area! After wards i got to go to a Baptism for someone in our Stake that came up to the missionaries and asked to be baptized. Its a pretty interesting story.

Alrigthy! That's some highlights from my week. I hope you enjoyed and i look forward to sharing whatever happens next week! If you want to hear anything in specific, you can tell me and i will try to respond either in the weekly next week or personally. Also, i added quite a few people to this list in the last few weeks, so if you don't want to receive these just let me know! Enjoy your week you Beautiful Human Beings

Scripture to Ponder from me this week is 1 John 4:7-9
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Enjoy!
(I Keep forgetting to take pictures, so here are the ones i took this week)
1. Rainbow after a rain shower (different than the one mentioned earlier)
