Week 12- Guns, Gates and Conference

This week was active for us. We met alot of people, and we are hoping to start steadily teaching some of them. So far we only have two people who have a date to be baptized, and one of them i put on date for after i may be gone... we'll see how that goes😅. Anyways, everyone else we are teaching is slowly progressing so hopefully i can do some more good while im here!

This week i've got two pieces of fun information and a story. Fun info: Bill Gate live like 20 minutes from me (I already asked, we are not allowed to go over there because to many missionaries have tried to knock on his door already😪😁). The second one is that i'm literally in the birthplace of Costco. I have been to the original costco twice now for food. Pretty interesting stuff.

Here's my fun story for the week. I didn't think this would happen quite this early in my mission, but it has to happen at some point i guess. Someone opened a door with a gun in hand. NOW HOLD YOUR PONIES, its not that bad. I will admit that when i saw the gun i was ready to book it, but here's what happened.

Here's the story. Me and Elder Thomas were door knocking, enjoying the night. Nothing to wild or crazy had happened and we had just successfully talked for a while with a really nice woman. All is fine and dandy. We knocked our next door and after standing there for a while i heard something that sounded like the slide of a gun. *shick shick click* it didn't register to firmly in my mind, but i turned to Elder Thomas and jokingly went "That sounded like a gun". Lol. Next thing i know the door opens and there's A GUN pointed right at us.

Good news all around tho because it just ended up that this person thought we were one of his buddies, and the gun was unloaded. We ended up having a good laugh about it, we talked for a while, invited him to conference, and now hes coming to church after having watched the third session of conference. The Lord works in mysterious ways, that's all i can say😂.

Final thought is from General Conference this weekend. It was an awesome opprotunity for everyone around the world to listen to and hear from some really great speakers, all of whom were church leaders.

It comes from Jorge M. Alvarado and he shared a thought about what it takes to be able to encourage someone to do something. He said that you couldnt encourage anyone to do anything if you yourself are not already doing that thing you are trying to help them with. Try and place yourself in their shoes AND THEN help them. That's what i got from that.

Love y'all, hope you have a great week!
